Saundra D. Townsend, 69, of North Vernon passed away at 9:58 AM Monday, May 16, 2016 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Born February 17, 1947, Saundra was the daughter of Leo and Dollie B. Holt Hearld. She married Jerry Townsend on December 9, 1967.

She graduated from Burney High School in 1965. She had worked at Jennings Community Hospital, Jay C Food Store, and worked as a supervisor at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Townsend of North Vernon; sons, Eric Townsend of Coral Gables, FL, Adam Townsend of North Vernon, and Byron Townsend of Decatur County; sisters, Mary Dean Hofelich of Scipio, Becky and Zelma Hearld of North Vernon; brothers, Andy Hearld of Greensburg, and Terry Hearld of Ft. Wayne; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kevin Hearld, and one sister, Linda Hearld.
