Sandra R. Callahan, 83, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Mike Hopper will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born on May 3, 1940, in Vernon, Sandra was the loving daughter of Harold and D'Ette (Vincent) Layman. She was united in marriage to Bill Callahan. He preceded her in death.

Sandra was a Vernon High School graduate. She had worked as a Library Assistant for the Jennings County Schools. She was a member of the Vernon Clionian Club and a faithful member of the Tea Creek Baptist Church. Sandra enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, and spending time with her friends and family.

Left to cherish Sandra's memory is daughter, Melissa (Steve Wainscott) Leonard of North Vernon; brother, Donald (Carol) Layman; grandson, Josh (Melissa Stuckwisch) Leonard of north Vernon; great grandchild, Lennon Leonard of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and D'Ette Layman; husband, Bill Callahan.
