Mrs. Ruby Mae McVey

October 29, 1918 - April 03, 2014

Ruby Mae McVey, 95, of Butlerville, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Jennings Healthcare Center.

Born October 29, 1918, in Anderson, IN, Ruby was the daughter of the late Ben and Minnie Gustin Kennon. She married Ralph L. McVey in November 1936. He preceded her in death in December 1988.

Ruby had worked as a cook in the school system, and retired from the Early Learning Center. She was a member of Nebraska Church of God, and she enjoyed making quilts and gardening, and oil painting.

Survivors include daughter, Rebecca Hull of Butlerville; two sons, Ralph E. and Don McVey, both of Butlerville; a sister, Ruth Hamilton of Anderson; ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two daughters, Pat and Susan Beeman; sister, Georgia Wright; three half-brothers, Jasper and Harvey Pine and Fred Kennon; and two grandchildren.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Nebraska Church of God. Rev. Edward Wooddell will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will be at Flat Rock Cemetery in Ripley County.
