Mrs. Ruby Irene Kiefer

Ruby Irene Kiefer, 96, of North Vernon, passed away on March 4, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Born on March 4, 2012, in Jennings County, Ruby was the daughter of Clarence and Lina Ella Kelley Morgan. She married George Kiefer, Sr., on August 18, 1939. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2006.

Mrs. Kiefer was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Royal Neighbors of America and Oakdale Community Club. She enjoyed gardening, needlepoint and flowers.

Mrs. Kiefer is survived by a son, George Kiefer, Jr., of Columbus, a daughter, Peggy Jean Cheesebrew of North Vernon, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 brothers, Frank, Gilbert and Leslie Morgan; and one sister, Mary Speer.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 9, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in North Vernon, with Rev. Jonathan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 8, 2012, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Sawyer- Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. A rosary service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday. Burial will be at Hayden Cemetery.
