Roy Edward Coulter, 71, of North Vernon passed away at his home on Sunday, May 17, 2009.

Born September 4, 1937 in Hope, he was the son of the late Leslie O'Brien and Rova (Taylor) Coulter.

Roy grew up in the Columbus/Hope area and relocated to North Vernon around 1970. He worked various jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed his family, friends, fellow Democrats and playing his guitar He performed country music and was a regular on the Jack Noel Show on WTTV Channel 4 from 1957-1964. He continued to entertain in Jennings and surrounding counties for several years.

Mr. Coulter is survived by his daughter, Julia (Ralph) Murray of North Vernon and sons, Scott (Kelley) Coulter of Smyrna, TN. and Randall Coulter of Hope; two brothers, Donald (Joann) Coulter of Hope, Richard (Chris) Coulter of Pensacola, FL., and a sister Lora May Richardson of Bloomington. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Elisa (Isaac) Fry and Lindsay Vanest of North Vernon, Beth (Jonathan) Patterson and Zachary Coulter both of Smyrna, TN., four great-grandsons, Seth and Jayson Fry and Bryce and Chalan Patterson.

His parents and his brother, James Coulter preceded him in death.

Funeral Information

There will be no funeral or visitation. A graveside will be held at a later date.
