Roger Neil Lovegrove, 72, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at home surrounded by his loved ones. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Connie Barr will officiate. Burial will be in the Westport Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the funeral home. Born on November 11, 1949, in Seymour, Roger was the loving son of James David Franklin and Edith Lavonne (Sporleder) Lovegrove. He was united in marriage to Barbara Sabelhaus on November 15, 1969. She survives. Roger was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed trap shooting and was a professional fisherman. He won several tournaments for both sports over the years. Roger was an outdoorsman and liked to hunt. In addition to his wife, Barbara Lovegrove of North Vernon, survivors include daughter, Julia (Kelly) Davis of North Vernon; granddaughter, Shelby Scroggin of Greenwood; sister, Darlene (Roger) Jackson of North Vernon; nephews, Kevin, Troy, and Randy. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Edith Lovegrove; son, James "Jamie/Lovey" Lovegrove. Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
