Roger Bowling, 78, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:08 p.m., on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.

Born June 9, 1937, in Hazard, KY, Roger was the son of Frank and Blanche (Callahan) Bowling.

Roger served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the Moose, Eagles, American Legion, AmVets and was a life member of the VFW. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Randy, Ronald and Roger "Digger" Bowling, all of North Vernon; two stepsons, Marty and Rodney Evans, both of North Vernon; six grandchildren, Brandon and Allison Bowling, April Marion, Dustin Zeller, Lucy and Trey Goins; five great grandchildren, Charlie Bowling, Aiden Foist, Jason and Halle Franks, and Bailey Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Bowling.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. George Uppling will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery.
