Mr. Robert Lee Whitaker

Robert L. Whitaker, 61, of Butlerville passed away 6:11 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Robert was born on August 25, 1948 in Milan, IN. He was the son of the late Leroy John and Laura Ann Schroder Whitaker. He married Katherine Rogers on August 1, 1968, she survives.

Robert had worked and retired as a (DST) from Muscatatuck State Development Center. He was a member of the North Vernon Eagles Club #4097 and was currently serving as a chaplain for the Eagles. He was a graduate of Dillsboro High School in 1966. He attended Morehead University in Morehead, KY. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, sports, and was an avid IU and Colts fan

He is survived by his wife; son, Robert Lee Whitaker II of Greensburg; three brothers, Barry (Teresa) Cutter of Brownstown, William (Linda) Whitaker of Hendersonville, TN, Terry (Ramona) Cutter of Seymour and one grandchild Avery Nichole Whitaker and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandchild, Haley Whitaker.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held on Monday, at 1:00 p.m. at Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Kozisek and Rev. Dan Harders officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
