It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Dale Watts, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, who entered into eternal rest on April 14, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on September 21, 1953, in Gary, Indiana, Robert was the son of James and Barbara Squires Watts. He graduated from Jennings County High School In 1971.
Robert was united in marriage to Judy Miller on September 11, 1976. Together, they built a loving family, nurturing their sons, Justin Watts and Travis Watts and wife, Ana Anjos Watts, as well as the joyous role of grandparents to their cherished grandchildren: Alana Anjos Watts, Alex Anjos Watts, Livia Anjos Watts, Harlan Watts, Sawyer Watts, and Stella Watts. Robert's dedication to his family extended beyond mere obligations; he devoted his life to them wholeheartedly.
As a skilled electrician and business owner, Robert founded Watts Electric, Inc. and Control Imagineering, where he applied his expertise and passion for his craft over many years. Robert was not only committed to his work but also held a firm belief in community and connection. He enjoyed sharing his property, affectionately known as Watts Camp, with family, friends, and local Boy Scout groups, creating lasting memories in a place he loved dearly. In recent years he was very supportive and involved with Black Cat EV Racing Club at Jennings County High school.
An avid dog lover, Robert had a special affinity for German Shepherds and shared a particularly close bond with his beloved companion, Sadie. His love and kindness were felt by many and will be sorely missed.
In addition to his wife Judy, Robert is survived by his son Travis and Ana Anjos Watts; his grandchildren; his siblings, James Watts and sister-in-law Linda Watts, Roland Watts, Christina and brother-in-law Nick Megel, and Jeesiah and Shannon Watts, sister and brother in law Janet and Don Henry, Linda and Jon Passmore, brother and sister in law Rich and Susie Miller, and many nieces and nephews who together will remember him as a pillar of strength and compassion.
Visitation will be held for Robert D. Watts on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.
In this time of grief, we invite all to join us in honoring Robert's memory, reflecting on the countless lives he touched, and cherishing the love he shared with each of us.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, James Watts and Barbara Watts Graue; son, Justin Watts; brother, Lloyd Watts; sister, Carol McIntosh.
