Mr. Robert Large

Robert Alan Large, 66, of North Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, in Warren County, Ohio.

Born March 9, 1948, in North Vernon, Robert was the son of the late William and Catherine Armbrister Large. He married Margaret Suhre on August 22, 1969. She passed away also on July 22, 2014.

Robert graduated from Purdue University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He later received his Master of Science degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology. He retired after twenty three years as Lt. Col. from the United States Air Force, where he was employed as an aeronautical engineer. He later retired from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency where he worked in the tire management division. He was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed gardening, reading and bird watching. He moved with his wife back to North Vernon from Springfield, OH, two years ago after retirement.

Survivors include two sons, Nathan Robert Large of Erie, PA, and Evan David Large (Tsui Yi Cheah) of Aurora, IL; three sisters, Nancy Montgomery and Linda Lou Giddens of North Vernon, and Carol Wolf of Butlerville; brother, William Large of North Vernon; and granddaughter, Evelyn Large of Aurora, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; daughter, Claire Catherine Large; and sister, Mary June Womack.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at New Bethel United Methodist Church in North Vernon. Rev. Connie Barr will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.
