Robert B. Kirchner, 85, of North Vernon passed away at 1:10 A.M. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at The Belmont in Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at St. Ann Catholic Church. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 3:30 P.M. on Monday at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will follow from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Born in North Vernon on August 23, 1939, Robert was the son of Clarence and Helen Matern Kirchner. He married Geraldine Boudreau on October 7, 1961. She survives.
Robert had served in the Indiana National Guard and retired from Force Construction. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed mowing and maintaining Kirchner Park.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Kirchner of North Vernon; sons, Timothy (Vicki) Kirchner of North Vernon, Jeffrey (Kristen) Kirchner of West Lafayette, and Douglas Kirchner of North Vernon; daughter, Cindy (David) Neal of Columbus; brothers, John (Emily), Joseph (Marilyn), Michael, Stephen (Karen), Andrew (Jeanie), Patrick (Sandi) of North Vernon, and Paul (Patricia) Kirchner of Seymour; sisters, Jane Kirchner, Catherine (Albert) Capes, Ladonna (Bobby) Green, Ruth (Dan) Norris, Jeanette (Todd) Firsich of North Vernon, Dorothy (Rick) Palmer of Martinsville, Joanne Skelly of Indianapolis, and Mary Such of Roseville, CA; grandchildren, Andrea Neal, Taylor, Olivia, Grace, Eleanor Kirchner, Alena (Troy) Jewell, & Alan Naldrett; great-grandchildren Nolan & Alyse Jewell.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark Kirchner; sister, Margaret Carson and brother-in-law Charles Carson.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul through the funeral home.
