Richard E. Woods

May 13, 1933 - May 19, 2009

Richard E. Woods, 76, of North Vernon passed away May 19,2009 at 12:20 PM at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, Ky.

Born May 13, 1933 in Columbia Township, he was the son of the late Mathew and Ruby Elizabeth (Toloday) Woods. He later married Mary Lou Goldschmidt. She preceded him in death on October 31, 2005.

Mr. Woods retired as a LT. COL. with the Air Force after serving from 1953 to 1973. He later was employed by First Financial Bank, Commonwealth Insurance, and was a school bus driver for 12 years for the Jennings County School system.

He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Woods of Louisville, KY, three sons, Christopher, Patrick, and Eric Woods all of North Vernon, two brothers, Thomas Woods of Memphis, TN, and David Woods of Los Angeles, CA, and eight grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Donald, Elvin, John P., Mathew, and Bernard Woods.

Funeral Information

Cremation is planned with a graveside service to be held at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery.
