Richard A. Elliott, 88, of Butlerville, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at Waters of Scottsburg, in Scottsburg.
Born August 1, 1923, in Paris, KY, Richard was the son of Rufus and Lilla Keaton Elliott, both of whom precede him in death. He later married Bertie Black, who preceded him in death in 2008.
Mr. Elliott was a member of the US Army during World War II, and was a POW for 17 months in Germany. He played guitar in a gospel quartet, and enjoyed gardening, working on TVs and writing letters.
Mr. Elliott is survived by one daughter, Minnie Lou Elliott of GA; five sons, Don Elliott of Butlerville, Richard A. Elliott of Brownsville, TX, Edward A. Elliott of North Vernon, Robert D. Elliott of North Vernon, and William G. Elliott of Royston, GA; one brother, John Elliott of CA; and several grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Elliott, and a daughter, Barbara J. Ross.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at 12:00 PM at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service, with Daniel Elliott officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN.
