Mrs. Reta Mae Cook

November 23, 1933 - February 04, 2014

Reta Mae Cook, 80, of North Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born November 23, 1933, in North Vernon, Reta was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Peck Lyle. She graduated from North Vernon High School. On July 18, 1950, she married Herschell Amos Cook. He survives.

Mrs. Cook had previously been employed as a cashier at Dollar General Store. She was a member of Second United Methodist Church, and was active in many of the programs of the church. She loved to volunteer and to offer assistance to those in need.

In addition to her husband, Reta is survived by two daughters, Karen (Ron) Norris and Kathy (Chris) Guess of North Vernon; three sisters, Nancy (Bob) Anderson, Cosetta Cook and Mary Frances (Henry) Beatty; one brother, Frank Lyle, Jr.; four grandsons, Eric (Sarah), Jaye, Ryan (Nicole), and Julian (Cynthia); three great grandchildren, Noah, Jaiden and Olivia; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon. Rev. Russell Ellery will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2014, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
