Rebecca Lucille (Nelson) Boggs, 74, of North Vernon, fell asleep in death at 9:05 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving husband of 54 years, Dennis C. Boggs and daughter Amanda Walp. Rebecca had been in the care of Hospice after many years of battling cancer.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. A private Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life held at the North Vernon Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, to commemorate her life's accomplishments at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, brother Kevin Bell will officiate.
Born on July 3, 1950, in Deluth, MN, she was the loving daughter of Paul Edwin and Joyce Marie (Coffer) Nelson. She was united in marriage to Dennis Charles Boggs on January 9, 1971. He survives.
Rebecca was a lifelong member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was a teacher assistant at the Hayden Elementary for 18 ½ years. She enjoyed reading and counted cross stitch in her free time. Most of all, Rebecca cherished spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Dennis C. Boggs of North Vernon, survivors include daughter, Amanda Dawn (Shannon) Walp of Hayden; grandchildren, Alexia, Lela, and Lane; mother, Joyce M. Nelson of Hayden; brother, Craig (Tammi) Nelson of Dripping Spring, TX; and nieces, Ashlee, and Vanessa.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul E. Nelson; son, Eric Jacob Boggs; paternal grandparents, Edwin and Aileen Nelson; maternal grandparents, Robert Cofer and Valine (George) Bjerg.
Memorial donations can be made through the funeral home to the Hayden Elementary School, the North Vernon Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, or Our Hospice of South Central of Indiana.
