Raymond E. Trapp, 89, of North Vernon, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2008, at his residence.
Born January 17, 1919 in Rush County, IN, he was the son of George and Lola Kinder Trapp, they preceded him in death. He married Ruby Thompson in 1942, she preceded him in death in 1958, he then married Ione Miner in 1959, she survives.
Mr. Trapp was a 1937 graduate of North Vernon High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army and received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart while serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked for the B & O Railroad, then worked for Indiana Kentucky Electric in Madison for 30 years, where he was an engineer, and retired in 1980. Mr. Trapp was a member of Tea Creek Baptist Church, the WW II Memorial Foundation in Washington D.C., Masonic Lodge #59, VFW Post 2021, and the American Legion at Madison. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Trapp is survived by his wife, Ione Trapp of North Vernon, three sons; Mike (Charlotte), Paul, and David (Lisa) Trapp all of North Vernon, six grandchildren;
Julie (Rod) Feltner, Ann Brison, Sarah Bass, and Danielle, Angela, and Derek Trapp, and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Trapp was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lola Trapp, and his first wife, Ruby Thompson Trapp.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Wharton officiating. Military graveside services will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 PM with a Masonic service at 7 PM at the funeral home and also Thursday morning from 10 am to time of service.

Memorials may be made to Tea Creek Baptist Church or the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
