Phyllis D. Heaton, 74, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:10 p.m., on Monday, August 14, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones.

A private graveside service will be conducted in the Dupont Cemetery. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on March 24, 1949, in Milan, Phyllis was the loving daughter of Alva Leroy and Zelma Fern (Davis) Hull. She was united in marriage to John D. Heaton on January 12, 1969. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2013.

Phyllis was a hairdresser for many years. She enjoyed doing crafts and puzzles. Phyllis liked working in her flower garden and genealogy. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by daughter, Lisa (Timothy) Dixon of North Vernon; son, Ron (Melissa) Heaton of North Vernon; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Donald (Rebecca) Hull of Butlerville.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Zelma Hull; husband, John Heaton; sisters, Joyce Koelmel, and Annabelle Pickett.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the donor's choice of organization.
