Phyllis J. Craig, 82, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:06 a.m. on August 3, 2020, at the Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Ron Bridgewater will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., on Friday, August 7, 2020, at the funeral home.

Born on November 12, 1937, in Clark County, she was the daughter of Jack and Florence (Pierce) Bower.

Phyllis began her teaching career in Aurora for 3 years. Then she retired from Jennings County Schools after 38 years of teaching. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Business and Professional Women's group, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Retired Teachers Association. In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by sons, David (Martha) Craig of Brownsburg, Rob (Angie) Craig of Seymour; grandchildren, Alison, Alex, Philip (Sarah), and Kent (Sydne) Craig; great grandchild, James Craig.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Florence Bower; brother, Alva Bower; sisters, Kathleen Gee, and Marjorie Ford.
