Mrs. Peggy J. Murphy

Peggy J. Murphy, 84, of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at her residence.

Born March 6, 1931, Peggy was the daughter of the late Elmo and Cecilia (Smith) Herr. She married Joe Murphy in 1950, and he preceded her in death.

Peggy was a co-owner of and bookkeeper for Murphy Electric. She had worked at Cummins, Inc. and Butlerville School. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and she enjoyed reading and cats.

Survivors include son, Mike (Bee) Murphy of Butlerville; daughter, Mickey Bland of North Vernon; daughter-in-law, Libby Murphy of North Vernon; eight grandchildren, Justin, Matt and Jake Bland, Sara, Rob, Donnie and Alex Murphy, and Meaghan Speer,; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Pat Murphy.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service, with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.
