Obituary

Patricia A. (Dickerson) Fletcher, a beloved mother, devoted wife, and cherished friend, peacefully passed away on August 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Patricia, known for her warm heart and nurturing spirit, was a pillar of strength for her family, who will forever remember her as a good mom and a guiding light in their lives. Born with an unwavering faith, Patricia attended First Baptist Church, where she found comfort and community. She shared a remarkable 58 years of marriage with her husband, Billy Joe Fletcher Sr., whose love and partnership she treasured deeply. Together, they built a life rich in love and family values. Patricia had a special gift for making everyone feel important, often expressing her affection through her famous homemade cookies and coffee cakes during the Christmas season. She delighted in sharing these treats not only with her family but also with those who served her community, like the trash man and the mailman. Her thoughtful nature extended to sending heartfelt birthday cards to her grandchildren, ensuring that each one felt celebrated and loved. Patricia is survived by her daughter, Patty (Bruce) Schlehuser; sons, Jim (Celia) Fletcher, Bill (Donna) Fletcher, Jr., Matthew Fletcher and Scott (Terri) Fletcher; 17 grandchildren 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Her memory will live on in their hearts and in the countless memories they made together.

Patricia was preceded in death by her mother, Geneva (Dickerson) Lahue; husband; son, David Fletcher and daughter-in-law, Celia Fletcher.

A Public Visitation will take place on August 20, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon. A Funeral Service honoring Patricia's life will be held on August 21, 2025 at 1:00 PM, following a Public Visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Patricia will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery. In this time of reflection, may we all carry forward Patricia's kindness, her dedication to family, and her deep sense of faith. She will be dearly missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
