Otto "Opa" Trilling

Otto "Opa" Trilling, 71, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, in Okeechobee, FL.
In 1956, Otto, along with his family, came to America from Germany. He then helped on the family farm. He worked at Cummins for 31 A½ years, retiring in July 1993. Mr. Trilling was a member of Diesel Worker's Union, and a member of the Moose Lodge #398 of Columbus, IN. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed farming, traveling, restoring antique tractors, spending time with his family. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Germany.
Otto married Sharon Kay Yeager on November 28, 1982. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Gehard (Lisa) Trilling of Columbus, IN, Ursula (Terry) Cartwright of Columbus, IN, Herman Trilling of Jonesville, IN, Tammy Matern of North Vernon, IN, and David Stahl of Lott, TX; grandchildren Kimberly Crew, Kristin, Alex and Carl Trilling, Rachel and Robert Cartwright, Chad, Craig and Megan Matern, Melissa and Judith Stahl; great grandchildren Latricia and Qwenesha Crew, Kaylee Palmer, and Allison Thompson; sisters Gertrud Wehner of Indianapolis, Herta Weber of St. Louis, MO, Lore Picklesimer of Bargersville; many nieces and nephews and his faithful Caine companion Stella.
Mr. Trilling was preceded in death by his parents; a twin son, Herod Alfred Trilling; a still born daughter; brother, Alfred Max Trilling; brothers-in-law, Robert Picklesimer, Tony Weber, Erich Wehner; daughter-in-law, Karen Trilling; and son-in-law, Larry Matern.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
Born in Lindenau, Germany, on October 4, 1939, Mr. Trilling was the son of Alfred Bruno Trilling, Sr., and Talyta Neuman Trilling.
