Mr. Oscar B. Norris

Oscar B. Norris, 99 of Port Charlotte, Florida formerly of Jennings County passed away at Tidwell Hospice in Port Charlotte, FL. on Sunday, May 9, 2010.

Oscar was born on July 6, 1910 in Sevierville, TN. He was the son of the late Charles & Florence Norris. He married Dorothy A. Speer on January 4, 1932, She preceded him in death on September 6, 2005.

Mr. Norris moved to Jennings County when he was in his teens. He farmed most of his life and after retiring from farming in 1975 Oscar & Dorothy wintered in Florida and became members of the Higgs shuffle board club in Port Charlotte where they earned many awards and honors.

He is survived by two sons, Charles E. Norris of St. Cloud, FL., and Jerry L. Norris of Canon City, Colorado. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a son Donald E. Norris.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Suit officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
