Mrs. Opal M. Schuck

March 11, 1917 - February 24, 2015

Opal Marie Schuck, 97, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at her residence.

Born March 11, 1917, in Pampa, TX, Opal was the daughter of Lester and Ethel (Shuck) Sullivan. She graduated from San Jacinto High School and attended Lain Drafting College and Pampa Business College. She married Edgar Charles Schuck on August 22, 1946, and he preceded her in death in 1964.

Mrs. Schuck owned and operated Schuck Daycare, and she co-authored a book about the history of Bigger Township in Jennings County. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of Isabella and Jennings County Historical Society. She enjoyed oil painting and watching sports.

Survivors include three sons, John Schuck of North Vernon, Steve Schuck of Hartford City and Charlie Schuck of Batesville; four daughters, Sherrel and Shirley Schuck, both of North Vernon, Janet Moore of West Palm Beach, FL, and Jeanne Struben of Muncie; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Michael Schuck.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rosary service will be Friday at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
