Nina Hauersperger, age 91, of North Vernon, IN, passed away peacefully at 1:50 am on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Schneck Memorial Hospital Respite Care.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, at St. Joseph's/Four Corners Catholic Church. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 2, and from 8:30 to 9:30am on Thursday, October 3, at Sawyer-Picket Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana. A Rosary Service will be held at 3:30 on Wednesday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service.
Born December 22, 1932 in Bicknell, Indiana, to William and Wilma Gholson. She was united in marriage to John Henry Hauersperger on October 14, 1950, who preceded her in death. They have four surviving children: Johna Kolb, Terry Hauersperger, Lenny (Maria) Hauersperger, and Yvonne McKain, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She has one surviving brother, Jerry Gholson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Hilda and Shirley, and brothers: Jack, Larry, and Kenny.
Nina was a dedicated employee of Muscatatuck State Hospital for over 21 years. Nina enjoyed sharing recipes, cooking for others, canning, gardening, sewing, upholstery, playing cards, and was the family Chinese Checkers Champion.
Nina was an active member of St. Josephs/Four Corners Church for nearly 50 years.
She faithfully served with the Rosary Society, at funeral dinners, VBS, craft bazaars, or anything that was asked of her. She also cheerfully volunteered to clean the church.
Memorials may be given through the funeral home, in her memory to: American Cancer Society, St. Judes Hospital for Children, or St. Josephs church for future seminarians.
