Nellie Fortune, 90, of Butlerville, passed away on September 25, 2017 at Altenheim Community in Indianapolis.

Cremation has been requested and no services will take place.  Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Services.

Born February 21, 1927, in Indianapolis, Nellie was the daughter of Fred and Hazel Moore Sering.  She married Mark E. Fortune on December 19, 1944.  He preceded her in death.

Nellie retired from Indiana Bell and had worked for Turner Dolls for 20 years.  She enjoyed crocheting, yard work and her computer.

She is survived by three sons, Mark E. Fortune, Jr. of Butlerville, John Thomas Fortune of Indianapolis, James Irvin Fortune of Cloverdale; one daughter, Barbara Susan Fortune of Missouri; one sister, Catherine Hutchison of Indianapolis; twenty grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mark; two sons, Michael and Patrick Fortune; a brother, Robert Lee Sering; and a sister, Betty Lovell.
