Celebration of Life:

Nadine "Cheryl" Shepherd, 80, of North Vernon, IN, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on June 1, 1944, in Nebraska, IN, Cheryl was the beloved daughter of Della Mae (Mercer) and Harry Beach.

A celebration of Cheryl's life will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Brother Ricky Persons officiating. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until the time of service, providing family and friends an opportunity to gather, share stories, and honor Cheryl's memory.

In  August 1969, Cheryl married Jesse Shepherd in Vernon. She dedicated nearly five decades to a successful career with Arvin/Pilot/Martinrea starting at just 19 years old and retiring in 2008. Cheryl was also an active member of the Democratic Women.

Cheryl found joy in many activities, including bowling, crossword puzzles, drawing  and reading. A lover of the outdoors, she cherished spending time outside and taking long drives to enjoy the countryside. Known for her loyalty and generosity, Cheryl's greatest joy was her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

Cheryl is survived by her son, Jesse P. Shepherd and her daughter, Jamey (Shannon) Marksberry both of North Vernon;  grandchildren Traven (Maia) Marksberry, MaKayla (Michael) Gasper, Chasity (Devon) Durant, Katrina Shepherd and Sara Shepherd; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Marlyn Beach.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Joann McNulty, and brother Allan Beach.

Memorials contributions in Cheryl's memory may be made to the Dementia Society of America, through Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Services.
