Mr. Michael B. Stephens

October 29, 1951 - November 25, 2011

Michael B. Stephens, 60, of North Vernon passed away at 12:21 PM on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Kindred Hospital South in Greenwood.

Born on October 29, 1951 in Shelbyville, Michael was the son of Welby B. and Ramona Edmonds Stephens. He had served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Later he attended Ivy Tech College where he earned an Associate's Degree in automotive transmission repair.

Mr. Stephens had been of Baptist faith. He was a member of the American Legion in Seymour. He had been employed with B & O Railroad, Wal-Mart and Lexmark. Michael enjoyed mechanic work, outdoor activities, flea marketing and family gatherings.

Survivors include his mother, Ramona Stephens of North Vernon, a daughter, Kathleen Stephens of Bowling Green, KY, three sisters, Jackie Frenzel of Alexandria, VA, Billie Jo Samuels of Bardstown, KY, and Connie Laswell of Indianapolis, and three grandchildren, Michael, Mikka, and Myles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Welby Stephens and a son, Kristopher Stephens.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Bill Ramey officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Indiana.
