Michael E. Poer, 62, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at St. Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. David Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at the funeral home.

Born on February 23, 1960, in Seymour, Michael was the loving son of Harold Poer and Julia (Taylor) Whittington.

Michael retired after 26 years of truck driving. He also served in the Indiana National Guard. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, and races. Michael loved collecting cars. Most of all he cherished spending time with his family.

In addition to his mother, Julia Whittington of North Vernon, survivors include daughters, Samantha (Tracy) Mefford of Madison, and Kim Poer of Louisville, KY; son, David Poer of Louisville, KY; sister, Rhonda Persinger of Austin, IN; grandchildren, Brian, and Cassandra Poer, William, and Henry Mefford; two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Poer; sister, Cindy Poer.
