Michael L. Fleming, 67, of Vernon, passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service.  Rev. James "Dickie" Mills will officiate.  Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Born October 6, 1950, in Seymour, Michael was the son of Francis "Chet" Fleming and Dorothy Bowerly.  He married Wilma Fox on August 24, 1973.  She survives.

Michael had previously been employed as a meat cutter at Jay C Food Store.  He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and University of Kentucky basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Fleming; a daughter, Shay Fleming of North Vernon; his step-mother, Barbara Fleming of Alabama; six sisters, Jane Bear of Dupont, Peggy Roberts of Butlerville, Lola Post of Vernon, Callie Anderson of North Vernon, and Marsha Burke and Phyllis Holland of Alabama; one brother, Thomas "T-Bird" Bowerly; and two grandchildren, Zoey and Fox Burton.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Francis "Chet" Fleming and Dorothy Bowerly; his step-father, Thomas Bowerly; and two brothers, Patrick Fleming and Gordon Bowerly.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
