Maxine Chapman, 93, formerly of North Vernon, passed away at 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the home of her son in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Charles C. Chapman will officiate. Burial will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service.

Born on September 25, 1931, in Hazard, Kentucky, Maxine was the loving daughter of the late Calvin and Bertha (Moore) Trent. She was united in marriage to Charles E. Chapman on December 17, 1951. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2007.

Maxine was a homemaker all her life. She loved writing poems and published two poetry books. She was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. Maxine enjoyed cooking in her free time and cherished spending time with her family.

Left to cherish Maxine's memory is her son, Charles C. (Patricia) Chapman; grandchildren, Peter (Shellie) Chapman, Misty (Brandon) Thomas, Christel Chapman, and Carin Chapman; great grandchildren, Scott Obermiller, Keaton (Alli) Floyd, Payton Obermiller, Gracie (Dillon) Rigdon, Shayla Chapman, and Skylar Chapman; great great grandchild, Amelia Floyd.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James Chapman; brothers, Calvin, James, Robert, and Herman Trent; sisters, Jean Williams, and Aileen Caines.
