Mary Lou Wilkerson, 90, of Island Grove, FL, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.  Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the funeral home with an Eastern Star service to begin at 7:30 p.m.  Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Born September 19, 1928, in Indianapolis, Mary Lou was the daughter of the late Fred and Marie Clarkson Corbin.  She married Harold L. Wilkerson in 1948.  He preceded her in death in 2010.

Mary Lou retired from Muscatatuck State Hospital. She had been a member of Easter Star for 50+ years and had served as Grand Page, was a member of Daughters of the Nile, Mother Advisor for Rainbow, retired from the senior volunteer program after 20 years, served on the board of directors for Community Action Agency in Gainesville, FL and was awarded for 30 years of outstanding service.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith Roberts of Island Grove, FL; son, Steven "Dusty" Wilkerson (Sherri Pollock) of Island Grove, FL; granddaughter, Katrina Martin of Orleans, IN; sister Betty Jean Bannister of FL; and four great-grandchildren, Darion, Kaylee, Blake and Paige.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Harold Wayne Wilkerson; two sisters, Joann Hauersperger and Lula Thompson; four brothers, Fred, Kenneth, John F. and Harry Corbin; and two great-grandchildren.
