Mary Alice Whitehead, 92, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:20 AM Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Manderley Healthcare Center.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Vernon Cemetery.

Born January 3, 1926, in North Vernon, Mary was the daughter of Raymond and Grace Horn Folsom. She married John Whitehead on May 5, 1947. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1972.

She graduated from North Vernon High School in 1944. She had worked at Regal Rugs and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery.

Mary is survived by one son, Steve (Nancy) Whitehead of Scipio; daughters, Mary Jane Broadus of Jacksonville, FL, and Kathy (Tim) Montgomery of North Vernon; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother; George Folsom; two sisters, Betty Sharp and Lea Mae Fortner; and one great-granddaughter, Kayla Renoll.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of South Central IN, Mercy Rescue, Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Inc. or the Jennings County Public Library Children's Section.
