Mary Catherine Thompson, 99, of Scipio, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at her residence.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Reddington Cemetery.  Rev. Kendall Wildey will officiate.  All friends and family are invited to attend.

Born April 9, 1918, in Reddington, Catherine was the daughter of the late Willis and Margaret Fox Hazard.  She married Donald C. Thompson who preceded her in death.

Catherine retired as a cook from Jennings County Schools.  She had previously worked at the shirt factory in Seymour.  She loved sunflowers, gardening, crocheting and sewing, spending time with her family and watching ball games.

Catherine is survived by one son, Dale (Danilee) Thompson of North Vernon; three daughters, Becky Thompson of Elizabethtown, Denise (David) Keith of Scipio, and Myra (Bruce) Fischvogt of Scipio; six grandchildren, Travis, John and Trent Thompson, Chris and Amber Fischvogt, and Amy Lewis; and six great-grandchildren, Autumn and Colton  Fischvogt, Allison Thompson, Kaylee Palmer, Kaitlyn Lewis, and Kalissa Thompson.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Martha Schmoe and Lois Young; one brother, Hubert Hazard; one son, Bruce Thompson and one grandson, Greg Thompson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County, Scipio Ball Park or donor's choice of charities.
