Mary Ann Barlow, 86, of North Vernon passed away Friday, November 27, 2009 at 11:50 pm at the Jennings Health Care Center.
Born on March 5, 1923 in North Vernon, Mary was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary E. Reichle Stewart. She later married William Barlow on April 10, 1948. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2006.
Mrs. Barlow was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, and the Seton Club. She had been employed for several years at the Muscatatuck State Hospital as a registered nurse. She enjoyed bird watching, James Whitcomb Riley poetry, reading, and most of all, spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her sons, Robert L. (Michele) Barlow II of Madison, Michael S. (Mary) Barlow of North Vernon, and John D. (Susie) Barlow of Hayden; two daughters, Mary Jo (Brad) Bender of North Vernon and Kate (Phil) Nicolai of Lawrenceburg; fourteen grandchildren, Colene Barlow Durocher, Robert L. Barlow II, Ben, Caitlin, Nick, Alex, Joe, Daniel, and Andrew Barlow, Jared, Travis, and Meghan Bender, Nancy and Paul Nicolai; and one great-grandchild, Quincy Driscoll Barlow.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Billy Barlow; a daughter, Nancy Barlow; a brother, Tom Stewart; and a sister, Nancy Bernatz.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday evening at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Mary's Project Share or Hospice of Jennings County.
