Martha H. Lemen

Martha H. Lemen, 74, formerly of North Vernon passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Davis Elderly Care in Madison.

Mrs. Lemen was born on January 1, 1936 in North Vernon, IN. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Mary McClellan Clerkin. She later married Dwight E. Lemen in 1956. He preceded her in death in February of 1995.

Martha had worked at the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center as a secretary for 42 years. She was a member of the St. Anne's Golf Course and the Muscatatuck Archery Club. She enjoyed reading, traveling, golfing, archery and her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Greg) Bishop of Columbus, Janet (Gary Clayton) Lemen of Bloomington; four brothers, Richard Clerkin of CA., Max (Trudy) Clerkin, of SC.; John (Patricia) Clerkin of Sebring, Fl., and Michael (Janet) Clerkin of North Vernon; a sister, Jane (Bill) McNeelan of Holton; three grandchildren, Diana, Julie and Zach Bishop and a brother-in-law, Clyde Lemen of Holton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Robert and James Clerkin and two sisters, Margaret Thompson and Shirley Eliot.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 1:00 pm. With the Rev. John Willis officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
