Martha Lee Ison, 87, of North Vernon passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016, at Premier Healthcare in North Vernon.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Tony Hibbard will officiate. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and Thursday form 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

Born July 28, 1929, in Jeremiah, KY, Martha was the daughter of Raymond and Lydia Blair Sizemore. She married Verlin Ison on August 16, 1945. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1995.

She retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center where she worked as a dietary aid. She enjoyed her bible study group and visiting with friends at McDonalds. She dearly loved her family.

Mrs. Ison is survived by daughters, Leta Jo Clark of Brownstown and Patty (Greg) Grimes of Charlestown; daughter-in-law, Kim Harsh; grandchildren, Scott (Sandra) Clark, Monica (Brian) Darlage, Matt Clark, Jake (Leah) Ison, Matt (Melissa) Harsh, Zachary, Ashley, and Audrey (Bobby Flowers) Grimes; eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, George Caudill; husband; sons, Denver Jake and James B. Ison;  brother,  Truman Caudill; granddaughter, Tracy Lee Ison; one great-grandchild, Gauge Clark.
