Mr. Mark Wade McCammon

August 25, 1960 - July 17, 2013

Mark W. McCammon, 52, of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.

Born August 25, 1960, in Seymour, Mark was the son of William F. McCammon and Fabian Burgmeier McCammon.

He attended St. Mary's Catholic School and later graduated from Jennings County High School in 1978. Mark ran cross country in high school from 1974 until his accident in 1976. As a freshman, he ran a mile in 4:54, and two miles in 10:21. He earned All-Conference honors as a sophomore. Other highlights of his cross country career include 16th place at New Albany Invitational, 5th place at Jennings County Invitational, and 51st out of 200 in a 6 mile race at Bedford. Following high school, Mark earned an associate degree in drafting from Ivy Tech. He worked at Cummins, Inc., volunteered at Scipio School, and worked as an associate for George Uppling.

Mark is survived by his mother, Fabian; two brothers, Patrick McCammon of Sumter, SC, and Mike McCammon of North Vernon; a sister, Tina Updike of North Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William.

Funeral Information

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. George Uppling will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bear Creek Cemetery.
