Obituary

Marjorie Roberts, 95, of Commiskey, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2020, at the Majestic Care of North Vernon.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Vernon Cemetery. Rev. Bart Smith will officiate. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with arrangements.

Born March 3, 1925, in Perry County, KY, Marjorie was the daughter of Culty and Lizzie (Polly) Callahan. She was united in marriage to R.J. Roberts on August 19, 1946. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1979.

Before getting married, Marjorie had worked at Crown Zellerbach Corp. in Tacoma, WA., then she retired from Regal Rugs after 30 years as the supervisor of the latex Department. She was a member of Centerville Baptist Church and enjoyed listening to gospel bluegrass music. She liked cooking, holiday dinners, gardening, quilting, and sewing.  Most of all Marjorie cherished time spent with family and friends.

She is survived by daughter, Katrina (James) Miller of North Vernon; sons, Raymond (Joan) Roberts of North Vernon, Roscoe (Anita) Roberts of Henryville, and Willis Roberts of Commiskey; brothers, Lloyd Callahan of Corbin, KY, and Harold (Mo) Callahan of North Vernon; elven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Culty and Lizzie Callahan; husband, R.J. Roberts; sister, Goldie Kennedy; brothers, Jack and Bill Callahan.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Tea Creek Baptist Church
