Marie Edna Speer, 89, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019, at Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus.

A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Services. Visitation will be held prior to the memorial service from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born December 7, 1929, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, Marie was the daughter of the late John and Ida Margaret (Nicklies) Jones. She married Gaylord W. Speer on May 24, 1946 in North Vernon. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1995.

Marie was a homemaker early on in life and later worked as a Nursery School Helper. She was a member of the Vernon Presbyterian Church. Marie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include daughter, Marsha (Matt) Noblitt of Columbus; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Janet Hanna and Judy Taylor; brothers, John Jones, Irvin Jones; sister, Betty Jones; grandson, Chris Hanna.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
