Margaret Lucille Sporleder, 89, of North Vernon, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, at 3:15 p.m. at Jennings Healthcare Center.
Born August 9, 1921 in Jennings County, Mrs. Sporleder was the daughter of the late Selah & Orpha Jackson Starkey. She married Lester L. Sporleder on May 20, 1939. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2002.
Margaret was an active member at Zenas Baptist Church and later attended Nebraska Church of God She loved old Christian hymns. Mrs. Sporleder enjoyed being a good housewife, keeping a clean house, spending time with her family and grandchildren. In her later years, she was known for excellent cooking. Margaret always wanted help even up to the end assisting the nurses at Jennings Health & Rehab. She loved everyone and everyone loved her.
Mrs. Sporleder is survived by two sons, Larry (Elizabeth) Sporleder and Melvin (Geraldine) Sporleder; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Carmen) Sporleder, Kathryn (John) Hillen and Lora (Deron) Brown; eight great-grandchildren, Derek Hillen, Amber Asche, Caitlin Sporleder , Courtney Sporleder , Hailey Brown, Tod Brown, Tatum Brown and Reagan Brown; and one great-great-grandchild, Saylor Asche.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Linda Sporleder and a grandson, Tod Sporleder.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home in North Vernon. The Rev. Jack Suits will officiate. Interment will be at Otter Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Saturday and on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
