Madge Fisher Davidson, 83, of North Vernon, passed away on March 26, 2012 at 7:30 AM at her residence.
Born November 27, 1928 in Jefferson county, Madge was the daughter of the late Stanton and Johnque Ashton Fisher. She married Paul L. Davidson on June 26, 1954 in Ft. Wayne and he preceded her in death on June 13, 1997. Mrs. Davidson had been the Deputy Recorder for 14 years, employed with the North Vernon Abstract Company for 10 years, the State School for 15 years, and with the former Vance-Fisher-Sawyer Funeral Home and the current Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service for 12 years.
Madge had been a member of the North Vernon First Christian Church and was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star along with being a 41 year member of the past Matron Club. She was the first female Republican to run for county office in 1960 and was a lifetime member of the Jennings County Republican Party.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Jeffrey Davidson of North Vernon and Larry Mark (Sarah Johnson) Davidson of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Erin (Derek) Davidson Green, Nicole Davidson, and Sam Davidson; a great-grandson Keegan Maddox Green; a brother Larry S. (Joyce) Fisher of Columbus; a special friend, Rosalee Day; and several nieces and nephews, Vicki Fisher, Lohren (Jason) Colix, Jennifer (John) Fisher Kissick, Eric (Lauren) Fisher, Nikki Hall, Scott McGuire, Star (David) Gray, Rhonda (Randy) Burden, Bonnie York, Rosie Coleman, Terri Henry and Bob Gault; and several great nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, her husband, two daughters, Carlene Sue Davidson and Tina Denice Davidson and a brother John Virgil Fisher.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be held at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 11 AM with Rev. Kendall Wildey officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
Donations Information
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Shriners Hospital of Lexington, KY or the Rolling Hills Shriner Transportation fund.
