Lucy Ann Engel, 88, of Paris Crossing passed away at 8:07 A.M., on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at her home.

A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 12:00 P.M. at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Damon Marling will officiate. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

Born in Scipio on July 7, 1933, Lucy was the daughter of William and Mildred Lafferty. She married Charles R. Engel on May 16, 1950. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2018.

She worked as a nurse for over forty-five years. She worked for thirty-five years in Scottsburg with Dr. McClain and then later retired from the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Lucy is survived by her grandson, Larry (Tamara) Sawyer Jr. of Paris Crossing; granddaughter, Sharla (Eric) Todd of North Vernon; great grandchildren Joshua (Jennifer) Sawyer of Medora, Leigha (Darin) Briner of Austin, Arica and Arin Todd of North Vernon; great-great grandchildren, Brodey, Macey,and Max Sawyer, Reid and Abigail Briner; sisters, Betty Lou Manning of Largo, FL, and Debbie Jo Hutchens of Seymour.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Carolyn "Dian" Sawyer; brothers Max, John, and Robert Lafferty.
