Lucille J. Baker Rowell, 88, of Commiskey passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at her home.
Born October 6, 1922 in Jennings County, she was the daughter of the late William and Myrtle Corya Baker. She graduated from Paris Crossing High School and later married Narvell E. Rowell in December of 1944 at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2009.
Lucille had worked at Fairchilds in San Rafael, California for four years and at the Madison State Hospital for fifteen years. She enjoyed her family, home, gardening and cooking.
She is survived by a son, Ron (Kristi) Rowell of Commiskey, three daughters, Carolyn (Warren) Laufer of Commiskey, Susan (Richard) Leahigh of Commiskey, and Constance Basham of Deputy, ten grandchildren, Warren Scott, Jamie, and Jeremy Laufer, Jody, Matt, and Faye Rowell, Quentin and Courtney Leahigh, and Abby and Amy Basham, six great-grandchildren, Dalton, Erin, Layne, Emma, and Will Laufer, and Brezden Leahigh, and a twin sister Louise Leach of Commiskey.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and five sisters, Dorothy Matthews, Anna Miskell, Lena Kinder, Edith Ciaccio and Mary Trowbridge.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home at 115 S. State St., North Vernon, with Bob Ochs officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Tea Creek Cemetery.
Donations Information
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Tea Creek Church, Bear Creek Cemetery of Montgomery Township and Hospice of Jennings County.
