Lowell Richard Thomas, age 81, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025. Born on July 1, 1944, in North Vernon, Lowell was a beloved father, grandfather, and dedicated community member.

Lowell served his country proudly in the United States Army from June 29, 1962, until his discharge on June 28, 1965, where he attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4 E4 T). After his military service, he enjoyed a distinguished career at Cummins, Inc., working as a specifications analyst for 39 years until his retirement.

An avid reader with a passion for carpentry, Lowell's free time was often spent honing his skills, while he also enjoyed the game of golf, finding satisfaction in both the sport and the time spent outdoors.

Lowell is survived by his sons, Eric Thomas and Anthony Thomas; daughter, Kimberly Thomas; daughter-in-law, Melissa Thomas; daughter, Tina Sharp; and his cherished grandchildren, Rheann Lowman, Jessica Thomas, Victoria Thomas, and Dylan Thomas.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 PM. Military Honors will be conducted at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN, immediately following.

Lowell Richard Thomas will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Letha James Thomas; wife, Juley Lucas Thomas; brother, James Ellis Thomas; sister, Donna Thomas.
