Linda L. Spurgeon, 77, of Scipio, passed away at 7:41 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.  Rev. Joe Wyatt will officiate.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2019, at the funeral home.

Born September 22, 1941, in Whitesburg, KY, Linda was the daughter of Isaac and Ola Caudill Cornett.  She married Gerald Spurgeon on January 9, 1960.  He survives.

She graduated from North Vernon High School and enjoyed cooking, baking, family, her dogs and going to the beach.

Linda is survived by her husband, Gerald Spurgeon of Scipio; son, Greg (Angela) Spurgeon of Rosedale; daughter, Peggy (Tony) Lovelace of Scipio; sisters, Carolyn Holley of Seymour, Wanda Wilson of North Vernon, and Elizabeth Ebbing of Hayden; brothers, Gale (Sally) Cornett of Las Vegas, NV, John Cornett of Commiskey, and Mark (Beth) Cornett of Scipio; grandchildren, Zachary (Rachel Clarkson) McCrory, Sadie (Eugene) Dye, Caleb Lovelace, Garrett Spurgeon and Holly (Paul) Morozov; great-grandchildren, Vincent and Natalie Morozov.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leslie and Paschal Cornett; and sisters, Kathleen Holley and Betty Bartlett.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
