Lewis L. Daugherty

Lewis L. Daugherty, 69, of Paris Crossing, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008 at his residence.

Born July 8, 1939 in Nebraska, IN, he was the son of Joseph G. and Helen F. Matthews Daugherty. They preceded him in death.

Mr. Daugherty was a 1957 graduate of North Vernon High School. He worked at Arvin Industries then went on to work at Cummins, where he retired in 1993. Mr. Daugherty owned and operated Daugherty & Son's Hardware, Backhoe, and Trenching out of Butlerville and Holton, IN. He also worked for Dave O'Mara after his retirement. Mr. Daugherty enjoyed working outside and collecting farm toys.

Mr. Daugherty is survived by a daughter, Lori (Brian) Schroeder of Paris Crossing, three sons; Greg (Nancy) Daugherty of Columbus, Gerry (Dot) Daugherty and Grant (Shelly) Daugherty, both of North Vernon, grandchildren; Bryce, Gage, Brennen, Gus, Perry, Jack and Isabell Daugherty, Amanda, Briana and Brian Schroeder, and two brothers, Joe (Charlotte) Daugherty of Butlerville and Jim (Sheila) Daugherty of Queensville.

Mr. Daugherty was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Joseph Wayne Daugherty, and a grandson, Jacob Ray Daugherty.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be 3 PM, Monday, December 15, 2008, at Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. Burial will be in the Otter Creek Cemetery in Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
