Leona Ramey Mullins, beloved mother, devoted friend, and compassionate soul, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born on March 4, 1933, in Kingston, Tennessee, to Hershel and Eliza (Quillen) Ramey. She moved to North Vernon in 1977 and married Bobby Mullins on July 6, 1977.
Leona dedicated her career to enhancing the lives of others as the Activities Director at Hoosier Hills Healthcare Center, where her warmth and enthusiasm brought joy to many residents. She was a member of Grayford Road Community Church and the Smiling Seniors. Her commitment to service and her ability to connect with others made a lasting impact on her community.
She had many hobbies including crocheting, reading and taking gospel tours. She especially enjoyed spending time with her lovely family.
Leona is survived by her daughters, Monica Lewis and Rita (Tim) Lowry; stepdaughter, Terri (Jeff) West; stepsons Randy (Rhonda) Mullins, James Mullins, Johnny Branson and Gary (Dawn) Branson and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sons, Derlin, Ronnie and Terry Branson; stepson Dennis Branson; stepdaughter Millie Griffin and half-brother Garnie Quillen.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Reverend Bill Higgs will officiate. Interment will be at Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials may be made in Leona's memory to Our Hospice of Jennings County through the funeral home. The family would like to express gratitude for all the care the nurses from Our Hospice provided.
