Lelon O. Ramey, 89, of North Vernon passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at his home.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. The family asks that all visitors please wear a mask.

Born February 23, 1932, in Eolia, KY, Lelon was the son of Walter and Ethel Boggs Ramey. He married Janice Bennett in 1959.

He served in the United States Army. He taught in Jennings County Schools for 33 years. He was a great loving dad that God has blessed richly. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, University of Kentucky sports, and bluegrass music.

Lelon is survived by his wife, Janice Ramey of North Vernon; daughter, Jayme (Dean) Hartwell of North Vernon; son, L. Scott (Pam) Ramey of North Vernon; sister, JoAnn Mathews of Lexington, KY; grandsons, Roger Hartwell and Kyle Ramey; granddaughter, Taylor (Lance) Gourley; two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, James Earl Ramey, Billy Reed Ramey, and Roger Ramey.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
