Laura Marie Welch, 93, of Seymour (formerly of North Vernon), passed away at 5:14 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Born November 8, 1923, in Jennings County, Laura was the daughter of the late James and Hallie (Hardesty) Vanosdol.  She married Tom Welch on November 19, 1955.  He preceded her in death on May 30, 2012.

Laura had worked at Camp Atterbury, Jefferson Proving Ground and Jennings County Clerk Office.   She was a member of Graham Baptist Church.  Laura was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years in North Vernon and served as a past Worthy Matron.

She is survived by one son, James Gary Welch of North Vernon and one granddaughter, Kaitlin Nicole Welch.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, James and Hallie Vanosdol; her husband, Tom Welch; and one son, Charles William Welch.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Graham Baptist Church or Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund.
