Laura M. Cornett, 84, of Scipio, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Tracy McIntyre will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service.

Born on March 3, 1937, in Dearborn County, Laura was the loving daughter of Charles Henry and Carrie Lee (Fryman) West.

Laura was a member of the Crossroads Community Church. She had retired after over 26 years with the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. Laura was avid gardener. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, reading, and crafting. Laura cherished spending time with her family.

She is survived by daughter, Karen Lynn Russell of Scipio; grandchildren, Tanner and Haley Cornett.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Carrie West; son, Dennis Vaughn Cornett; sisters, Henrietta Reed, Ellen Johnson, Mary Graham, Geneva Schnebelt, and Gail Eckstein; brothers, Charles W. West, and Robert West.
